Abstract

This thesis is concerning a proposed site on the Tennessee River about three miles above Knoxville. The thesis is to lead up to the point where the matter of costs of such a project can be worked up.

The Tennessee river is well known as being very flashy. From government bulletins it was found that most of these flood flows come suddenly and do not stay long. The relation of the power to the flow is shown by curves.

This project is of very unusual character, due to the fact that the head will be high when the flow is low and low when the flow is high. The extreme variation in head made a very interesting study.
