Soil association areas as a force influencing economic status of rural households in the Upper East Tennessee Valley

This study was designed primarily to explore:

(a) The influence of different soil association areas in East Tennessee upon what is produced and sold from farms.

(b) The degree of adjustment of people from full-time farming to part-time farming and nonfarm employment in the different soil association areas.

(c)The influence of soil resources upon the income and level of living of people in the area.

Information obtained should be useful in planning, organizing, and implementing programs designed to improve the economic status of farm people in East Tennessee, and in similar areas in the Appalachian Region.
