Abstract

The aim of this thesis is to show that Martin Luther used the same methods of translation with his translation of Aesop's fables as he did with his translation of the Bible. This is done by comparing his fable translation with that of Heinrich Steinhöwel and the Latin source of both and by examining Luther's letter, "Sendbrief vom Dolmetschen", and his introduction to the fables.
