Boats against the current

Section I, "Glass Reunion," contains lyrics concerning people important to the poet, including classmates, friends, and family. Section II, "Rooms of Memory," focuses on feelings and events of the poet's childhood. Section III, "Storm Season," concerns the poet's more recent experiences and feelings. Throughout the thesis, color, sounds, dialogue, and idiomatic language are emphasized. Carefully-chosen images of nature and individuals suggest emotional states. The poems are united in their attempts to gather meaning from the distant and/or recent past.
