Abstract
The principle objective has been to weigh the effect of occupation upon formal social participation, while at the same time controlling certain other sociological factors which have been found to be related to social participation. The scope of this study is limited. The problem focuses on one area of behavior in rural society, that of formal participation in voluntary organizations.
