A multiuser MUMPS system for VAX/VMS
Although originally developed in the inid-1960's, MUMPS is still widely used today. Over the years, various implementations of MUMPS have been written that execute in different hardware and operating system environments. VAX/VMS C-Mumps is one such implementation.
The multiuser VAX/VMS C-Mumps system is based on the single user UNIX C-Mumps developed by a group headed by Kevin C. O'Kane at The University of Tennessee. Here is described the design and implementation of VAX/VMS C-Mumps and the methods used to produce the initial version based on the UNIX C-Mumps program. Wherever possible compatibility with the UNIX C-Mumps was maintained, performance improvements were added, one being a global array file buffer cache, and the MUMPS LOCK command was fully implemented.
