Abstract

This study was conducted to determine what relationships there were between college-preparatory Chemistry I grades and the Test of Achievement and Proficiency (TAP) scores in mathematics and science, overall grade point average, grade point average in Algebra I, biology grades, and physical science grades. A correlational study using Pearson r was performed using data collected over a two year period (N=90) from a large rural high school in Tunnel Hill, Georgia. Overall grade point average and physical science grades were found to have substantial positive associations and biology grades and Algebra I averages to have moderate positive associations. TAP scores showed low positive associations with Chemistry I grades.
