The 3rd International Veterinary Social Work Summit is a scholarly conference accepting 60-minute workshop, 30-minute podium, poster presentation, and table topic abstracts in the four areas of Veterinary Social Work.

•The link between violence to animals and violence to people
•Grief and bereavement regarding animals and humans
•Animal assisted interactions
•Compassion fatigue management

There will be an additional track on:

•Ethical Dilemmas in Social Work and Animals

Programs of research, programmatic innovations accompanied by evaluation data, and theoretical perspectives papers grounded in scholarly literature review are encouraged.

WORKSHOP SESSIONS: (60 minutes long) Workshop sessions are 45-50 minute presentations with 10-15 minutes of discussion. These can be presented by one author, or several authors discussing a specific subject in a symposium format.

PODIUM PRESENTATIONS: (30 minutes long)
These presentations will be 20 minutes with 10 minutes of discussion.

POSTER: Posters should be horizontal and no larger than 3.5 x 6 feet. There will be scheduled time when authors must be present with their poster to discuss their work.

TABLE TOPICS: Table topics promote development of new ideas, connections, and networking between professionals. These topics are not program specific, but rather broader areas of interest. Examples might include “miniature horses in animal assisted therapy,” or “compassion fatigue in lab animal medicine,” or “grief and loss related to working dogs.” Table topics will occur at meal times.

SPECIFIC GUIDELINES FOR ABSTRACT SUBMISSION:
-You must set up a free Trace account to submit your abstract.
-Once you are logged in to your Trace account, go to the 2013 VSW Summit website and click the Submit Abstract link in the left sidebar.
-Read the Submission Agreement, then complete the webform to submit your abstract.
-Abstracts should not include figures or tables and must not exceed 450 words including references.
-If accepted, all authors must register for the conference at their own expense.
-Confirmation will be sent February 1, 2013.
-Posters approved for display will receive additional information regarding the display area and poster design.
