Industrial & Information Engineering

Department Chair: Dr. Rapinder Sawhney, Head

Industrial engineering is concerned with the design of integrated systems involving people, materials, information, equipment and energy, so that the overall system functions efficiently and human needs are adequately met. Industrial engineering is distinctive in two respects: the industrial engineer typically works on problems or systems which include human beings as a major variable; and the industrial engineer is by definition a systems engineer, whose unique combination of skills can be applied to many working environments. The Department is committed to provide sound modern industrial engineering education, to engage in creative research, and to deliver outreach activities through its undergraduate and graduate programs. The Department will ocntinuously enhance its performance in the creation, integration, and dissemination of knowledge as it relates to the design, implementation, operation, analysis, and improvement of industrial processes and in. service to the profession of industrial engineering.
