Department Chair: Stephen Corda, Program Chairman

Aviation Systems is a unique blend of aerospace engineering, aviation technology, flight science, and "hands on" flight test engineering and flight research. We offer a unique Master of Science degree that provides a theoretical and practical educational experience in these technical areas.

We operate a fleet of research aircraft, at the UTSI Flight Research Facility on the Tullahoma Regional Airport, that are an integral part of our curriculum. The aircraft are also available for our students and faculty to conduct their research. The students even have the opportunity to fly in these aircraft as flight researchers and flight test engineers.

Our current research areas include projects in aircraft performance and flying qualities, atmospheric and earth/ocean science, flight systems and human factors, aircraft design, and advanced flight test instrumentation. Our research may also be conducted in collaboration with the UTSI Aerospace Engineering Department or our other academic departments. UTSI Aviation Systems Program Page
